Olympus Today Announced the E-30 Model

Olympus has announced the E-30 digital camera . It is not being advertised yet as it won't be available until mid-January, 2009. No prices were in the announcement, but the rumored price seems a bit high. Since it is only a rumor, I won't discuss it here. Olympus announced, the newest addition to their product line. It is the E-30 digital SLR. The mid-range DSLR features a 12MP Live MOS sensor and 2.7" tilt and swivel LCD. It also incorporates Live View with Contrast AF, Image Stabilization, 5fps continuous shooting and shutter speeds of up to 1/8000th sec. The E-30 also introduces a set of six 'Art Filters', a Multiple Exposure mode and offers a choice of 9 aspect ratios.

In their Stylus 1050SW, Olympus has introduced a tap technique where you can activate features such as flash, or play back by tapping various parts of the camera when it is inconvenient or impossible to use normal camera controls.
